Her organization also has been knocking on doors and phone-banking. Of particular importance to the Hmong and Southeast Asian community, which has a young population, is education, followed by health care and safety net benefits.
“It’s so important for the Asian community to make sure we’re counted,” Vang says. “Remember, this is our home; we’re not going anywhere. And we deserve the services that the Census information will help provide. We’re not just doing this for ourselves, but for future generations.”
